The Society has published a hardcover tunebook featuring all 53 shape note songs written during our summer tour of the Erie Canal with the Subliminal History of New York State.
Each song is accompanied by texts written by Carrie contextualizing the words and music, as well as occasional illustrations of how the poems were performed as participatory readings during the tour.

Artist Carrie Dashow and shape note singer and composer Jesse Pearlman Karlsberg of the Society for a Subliminal State will bring their touring community art, video, and music project, the Subliminal History of New York State to six towns and cities along the Erie Canal this June and July.

The Society, with Gigantic ArtSpace, has released a limited edition Under Island CD, featuring 11 songs from the Under Island song poem book. The CD features a screenprinted cover and a hand-printed booklet with scores for the songs on the disc.
The CD costs $40 and you can order it online through the Society’s web site.
This July 30, the Society held a singing school workshop and performance/assembly at the Widow Jane Mine in Rosendale, NY. The day mixed instruction on how to sing shape note music with the first ever presentation of the Rosendale edition of the Subliminal History of New York State, a narrative about living land and history being developed by Carrie Dashow and Jesse Pearlman Karlsberg.
