Song of the Diggers

Jesse sings an old Erie Canal song, the text of which was found written in pencil on an old book. The tune, written by George Ward, appears in the folk singer’s collection “Oh! That Low Bridge!: Songs of the Erie Canal.” Jesse learned “Song of the Diggers” after Carrie pointed it out on George Ward’s CD.

He recorded this rendition of the song at the Niagara County Historical Society in Lockport, NY.

All Names Rhyme

Sing along:

Whether you know or notice,
You’re stuck attached to past,
The past is like a name
You call when you say your own…

Your name here. etc.

Reprise

Singing for Five Days
